Cass Concepts in the Community: Witches Night Out Grows into a Downtown Decatur Tradition

What began as a simple girls’ night out filled with fall vibes, costumes, and boutique shopping has grown into one of Downtown Decatur’s most anticipated events of the year—and we’re proud to be part of it.

Witches Night Out started with the goal of giving women a festive evening to enjoy together, but today, it’s evolved into a full-blown community celebration that brings together families, friends, local businesses, and visitors from across the region.

“This event is truly a reflection of our downtown spirit,” said Cass Concepts Owner, Cassie Yoder, who has helped promote and support the event as it’s grown. “You’ll see so many more businesses and restaurants participating—and everyone puts their own spin on it. It’s become a fun night for girlfriends to get together, for families to enjoy time out, and for kids to show off their Halloween costumes.”

As part of our ongoing commitment to supporting small businesses and building community connections, Cass Concepts opens its space each year to host pop-up vendors—giving entrepreneurs and makers without a storefront the chance to connect with new customers during the event.

One of those small businesses is T Candles, owned by Andrea McGee, who showcased her signature sand wax candles at this year’s event.“It’s so important for me as a small business trying to build my brand,” said McGee. “Events like this allow us to connect, collaborate, and learn from each other. Every business has a story, and that’s what makes this community so unique.”

Throughout the evening, downtown businesses offered extended hours, creative in-store activities, festive treats, and cozy ways to escape the fall chill. Places like Decatur Brew Works added extra fun to the mix with henna tattoos, face painting, and themed food and drink options.

“Events like Witches Night Out aren’t just good for business—they’re good for building community,” said Nicky Besser of Decatur Brew Works. “It’s about partnering together to create a great downtown experience.”
